Next Meeting Monday 14 April 2004 - Field Trip to GOMA

Hi Members,

It's school holidays but there is no need for us to give up our meeting, so on Monday, we're off to the Gallery of Modern Art at South Bank. To give us a little more time, we'll meet at 10.15 AM outside the gallery, (see map below). This outing is organised by Peter Attwood. Thank you Peter.

It is very easy to get there by public transport. Diane and I will be on the 555 bus which leaves from Logan Hyperdome at 9.15AM , stops at Springwood and then flies in to town, stopping at the Performing Arts Complex just before 10 AM. Or you can jump on a train from Kuraby and get off at South Brisbane.

Here are a couple of pictures from GOMA, Josie shot and sent me.

One thing to keep in mind. Although you are allowed to take photographs in the gallery, they won't let us go in with camera bags. For security reasons, those will have to be deposited at the cloak area, so it is best to stow extra lenses, batteries, memory sticks in your pockets and leave the bag with them. You can always go back to get anything out of the bag during your stay there.

And I understand that for the main exhibit, 'Cai Guo-Qiang: Falling Back to Earth', there is a charge of $15 per adult. Not sure if there is a concession price. I believe they do group tours, so those of you who like these tours can probably join one of them on the day.

Remember our last topic was Macro and Close-Up Photography, so let's use those skills for our show at the following meeting on the 28 April. I'm sure there will be thousands of opportunities to get some great shots.

Around lunch time, there are a couple of restaurants to have lunch.
