Today's Meeting

Hi members,

We had a very productive meeting this morning again with a packed room.

Diane addresses a 'full house'
We started off with photos of our challenge from the last meeting, showing hidden treasures from our garages. Following our tradition, one member got left out and we can't blame any operating system, it was simply human error, namely mine. Here are Leo's three pictures.

Then Diane presented the main topic for today's meeting Macro Photography

The lesson notes are now available on this blog.

Macro Photography is a favourite subject for many photogrphers

The next meeting on the 14th April is a field trip to G.O.M.A. (more later), so the challenge is take three macro or close up shots at GOMA. If you're not coming along, then take three macro shots anywhere, using methods we saw today.

Today's Meeting

Hi Members,

Members really took to last week's challenge of photographing items in different views, there were some fantastic shots. The gremlins, however got into the Powerpoint Presentation and Kathy's shots missed out being displayed. For this I truly apologise.

So here are Kathy's photos:

The main topic this morning, was presented by Des Wilkinson 'Understanding Camera Lenses.'

Des Wilkinson presented the topic Understanding Lenses

Des went into great details on the subject and his notes are now accessible on this blog under the Lesson Notes.

Now, to the challenge for next meeting:

Challenge # 2 Hidden treasures

The premise with this challenge is to find at least 3 objects in your garage or basement and create photographs of each of item. If you don't have a garage or a basement, go to your mom's house or a friend or neighbor's or buy some stuff at a garage sale. Just don't count yourself out or make an excuse about why you can't do this challenge. People that have a CAN DO attitude go much further in life.
Open up your mind to possibilities once again. Take that trash and make it look like a treasure. Make art out of garbage, possibly quite literally. Make lemonade out of lemons. Okay, you get it, enough of the metaphors.

Something like this stuff found in our garage:

Next Meeting Monday 10 March 11.00AM

Hi Members,

We'll start the meeting with the members' slideshow. If you remember, we asked you to take lots of shots of any subject and send us three different shots of the same subject.

As an example, I took a few shots outside my office this morning.
