Today's Meeting

Another well attended meting, this morning. The library had to find additional chairs for the meeting room.

We started with the traditional slideshow of photos members took at our last photo shoot at Currumbin. There were once again some stunning shots for us to admire. I just picked some randomly for this blog post:

Then we moved to our main topic, 'Flowers' in preparation for our outing next month to the Roma Street Gardens. Diane's lesson notes will be on this blog in a couple of days, so if you want to review or print them, feel free to do so. Here are some examples of illustrations from Diane's lesson.

And finally Kathy and Diane brought along some flowers for us to try our hand in and those who brought along their cameras did just that.

The next meeting will be on Monday 9th September at the Logan North Library. Topic - Special Effects presented by Kathy.

Today's Meeting

Great turn up this morning for such a long way from the usual meeting place at Springwood. 24 members took the time to meet up at Currumbin for our photo shoot and morning tea at the Beach Shack and later lunch at the Vikings Surf Club.

Here are some of Diane's pictures. I was busy filming the event for a short promotional video of the camera club. I was actually lucky to capture a couple of whales for the film.

So now, we need your 3 best water, sand, beach, waves or rocks shots you took this morning., for the show and tell show next meeting. If you were lucky enough to catch the odd whale even better. Please send them to us c/o

Next Meeting Monday 12 August - 09.00 AM at Currumbin

On Monday, we're off on another photo adventure, photographing surf sand and beach. We meet at Wallace Nicoll Park, corner of Duringan and Pacific Parade at Currumbin. A detailed description sheet of how to get there was attached with the email of this blog advice.

A few of us went down there last Monday to check it out, there are lots of opportunities to capture great photographs.

There are nice Rock Formations
Maybe a fisherman
This one even caught lunch last Monday
Currumbin Vickings Surf Lifesaving Club
A couple of hundred meters south is the Currumbin Vickings Surf Lifesaving Club with a set of stairs to climb up on to Elephant Rock to take great panorama shots.
A Panorama shot from Elephant Rock next door.
We'll meet at 9.00 rather than 11 to capture better light. Hope to see lots of you there.

On another matter, I've tried to design a new logo for the camera club. This one is a bit crude.  If anyone has graphic talents or a graphic program that can do this properly, we'd be very grateful.
