Yesterday's End of Term Meeting

Hi Members,

We finished term 1 with a good attendance yesterday. We viewed some great shots of the Railway Workshop Museum trip two weeks ago.

Then Diane explained how to improve our photo when we travel. The lesson notes will be up on the blog in a few days. We were without broadband since Sunday evening's storm and it has just been restored, so give us a few days.

We were trying to set up the screen for the slide presentation.

I tried, Ron tried, several others tried but the gremlins got the better of us

So we had to resort to the overhead projector which worked fine but the picture quality suffered.

Finally we got ready for the Travel Photography session.

We accidentally overlooked Lorraine's submission of her museum photos, so here they are:

Have a good break and we see you again on the 22 April.

Next Meeting Monday 25 March 11.00 AM

Hi members,

On Monday, we'll have a look at the photos members took at the Railway Workshop Museum at our last meeting.

Then we'll look at Travel Photogrphy, a topic dear to a lot of our members.

And we conclude as usual, with our help session, where we help each other with camera problems or ideas.
We recently sent an email asking you if you're interested to attend a photo shoot at the Gold Coast Sports Flying Club. We had an overwhelming response from members telling us you are interested. I've asked the organisers for details of dates and they replied that they don't have a date yet but think that it'll be sometimes in September. We'll keep you posted.

This Morning's Outing

We had a good turnout for our first photo shoot of the year, considering it was quite a distance away from our home base, to the Workshops Rail Museum at Ipswich. We were given special concessions to enter as most of us are also RACQ members, which was a bonus.

The Workshop Museum is at North Ipswich
A staff member gave us a quick overview of the museum

The Rail Buffs enjoyed the excellent model rail display

The museum is packed with old Queensland Railway engines
and carriages
even a mock up Tilt Train
Then we had a tour through the workshop

The Queensland Railway workshop is still a working workshop where the old engines and carriages are overhauled.

Workman demonstrated their welding skills just for us.
After both the Steam Shop and the Blacksmith Shop tours, we retreated to the coffee shop for morning tea. A great morning!

Next Meeting - Monday 11 March - 9.30AM

Hi members,

We're off on our first photo shoot for the year on Monday to the Queensland Rail Museum at Ipswich. That should give us heaps of chances to capture that special shot we've been waiting for.

We meet early, at 9.30 AM, so that the students of Jean's Photoshop Class can be back at the library by 1 PM.

Here is the map of how to get there:

Don't forget to take 3 shots for submission for the slideshow at the following meeting. Capture the shots that evoke emotion, tell a story and keep the viewer engaged.

See you there

Here is a short video of what you'll see.
